Every spray, fogger and hanging tree does the same thing: adds a smell strong enough to sit on top of the one you do not want. A week later the cover-up fades and the original is still there, because nothing removed it.
Ozone is a different mechanism. O₃ is an unstable molecule that gives up an oxygen atom to whatever it contacts, and that reaction breaks down the compounds causing the smell — smoke tar in the headliner, bacteria in the carpet, mildew in the vents. Afterwards it reverts to ordinary oxygen and leaves nothing behind.
The catch is that ozone works on what is in the air and the fabric, not on a physical stain. That is why we run it after an interior clean, not instead of one.
